Welcome to Fay School and the 2019-2020 School Year!

We are delighted to welcome you to Fay School and our community of students, parents, teachers, and staff from many different towns and countries around the world. We are sure you have many questions about “what happens next?” The information here will guide you through some important next steps and help you prepare for the first day of school.

Please continue to check back throughout the spring and summer months as we add new information in preparation for the opening of school on Tuesday, September 3. In the coming months, we will also send you
information that is specific to your child's grade and to our boarding student families.

    The Massachusetts Department of Education requires that all schools have current health records for their students. As such, children will not be permitted to attend the classes in September until all required health forms, including current immunization records, have been submitted. 

    Fay has partnered with Magnus Health SMR (Student Medical Record) to provide a secure, web-based, management system for student medical information.

    Please follow these steps to access your child's Magnus Heatlh SMR account:
    1. Log into your MyFay account
    2. At the top of the screen, click on Resources
    3. Click on the MAGNUS HEALTH PORTAL tile
    You will be connected to your child or children’s medical records account. A brief online tutorial about how to use the Magnus system is available.

    Parents will receive regular email reminders as long as there are outstanding items in their Magnus Health SMR accounts.

    If your child is entering Lower School (grades 3 through 6) in September, please complete a program request form. Available program requests are based on the grade your child will enter in fall 2019. On the form, please select one of the following options:

    • Entering grade 3
    • A NEW grade 4 student
    • A NEW grade 5 student
    • A NEW grade 6 student
    You will then be prompted to make one or more program selections depending on the grade your child will enter in fall 2019. Please make selections for each of the program choices that are presented to you.

  • Program Requests for grade 9 will be available end of May


    New parents will receive an email from Business Office explaining how to setup and then access Smart Tution accounts in order to make tuition payments. Please go to: and click on "first time user". Enter your unqiue Smart Tuition ID that was included in the email from the Business Office and one of the other pieces of information requested (email address or telephone number). After you have hit 'submit', you will then be able to log in to your Smart Tuition account, review your tuition invoice, chose a payment method, and make your payment online.

    If your child is entering grade 3 through 9, please give a copy of the Records Release Form to your child’s current school to request that a transcript be mailed directly to Fay School. Click here to download the Records Release Form

  • When to arrive on campus in September

    New boarding students should arrive on campus beween 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Returning boarding students may arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please check-in at the Root Meeting Room. Student passports and travel documents will be collected for safe-keeping. All required health forms must be completed using the Magnus Health Portal prior to arriving on campus. Upon completion of check-in, students will pick-up swipes and dorm keys. Please note: dorms and beds are pre-assigned.

  • Will there be orientation for new families?

    Fay ensures that new families have the information and support they need to smooth the transition to their child’s new school. The New Student Picnic takes place the week before the opening of school and invites new parents and students to meet and mingle with teachers and current parents. Orientation Day, the day before class begin, is a time for all families to meet with teachers and advisors and then join returning families for the All School Family Picnic. Details of all orientation events are posted in mid-August each year.
  • What is MyFay and when will I be able to log into my MyFay account?

    MyFay is the School’s secure website for parents and provides access to information about:
    • Student schedules (grades 5 – 9)
    • Homework assignments – (grades 3 – 9)
    • Report cards
    • Homeroom and classroom news
    • Athletics schedules and teams – (grades 5 to 9)
    The Magnus Health Portal is where parents will complete required health forms for their child/ren. It is located under Resources in MyFay.

    The MyFay Parent Community Group page
    includes handbooks and resources that are not posted to the public website, as well as an archive of communications and weekly E-News. Parents new to Fay are able to access MyFay accounts in late spring.
  • When should new students arrive on campus?

    New students and their families are invited to attend welcome and orientation activities on Orientation Day - the day before the first day of classes.The detailed schedule for the day is posted by mid-August. New boarding students should plan to arrive on campus between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Orientation Day.
  • When does the school day begin and end?

    The drop off time is 7:45 a.m. for all day students. Primary and Lower School classes begin at 8:00 a.m., and Upper School morning meeting or advisory starts at 7:50 a.m. Students should not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.

    The school day ends at 3:00 p.m. for students in Primary School through grade four. 

    The school day ends at 4:15 p.m. for grades five and six students and at 4:30 p.m. for grades seven through nine. 

    Pick-up times may be later, depending on athletic games schedules. Details of daily arrival and dimissal locations are listed under Parent Resources.
  • Where can I find information for boarding students, and when will I know what dorm my child is in?

    Boarding students will learn which dorm they have been assigned when they check-in on Orientation Day.

  • Where can I shop for clothing that meets Fay's dress code?

    Details about Fay's dress code are available here, as well as links to some vendors.

    We also encourage all parents to check out the selection at Mooseduds, Fay School’s gently-used clothing resale shop. Mooseduds sells Fay dress code clothing for children in Kindergarten through grade nine, including blazers (for boys and girls), dress shirts, skirts, belts, and ties. As your child outgrows his or her school dress clothing, please consider donating these items to Mooseduds.

    Mooseduds also carries a limited supply of Moosegear (gently used sports gear) that varies on a seasonal basis. Mooseduds is open when school is in session on Wednesday mornings from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. and until 9:45 a.m. on days when Open Parent Meetings are scheduled. 
  • How can I get involved as a new parent?

    The Parents' Association is an excellent resource for new families, and there are many volunteer opportunities for parents to become more involved in life at Fay. Please go to the Parents' Association page for more information. 

    During the first few months of school, grade-level Parent Coffees are informal gatherings with teachers and division heads where parents can learn more about their child's daily school day and upcoming events. Monthly Open Parent Meetings are opportunities to learn more about a particular topic of interest to parents. Please check the school calendar for the list of dates for all of these events.
  • What about grades and report cards?

    Fay School operates on a trimester calendar: Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms. Grades and report cards are posted on the password-protected MyFay web site and may be found by going to your chld’s profile page. Parents will be notified via the weekly E-News when grades and report cards are available; the schedule is different for Primary, Lower and Upper School.
  • When are parent/teacher conferences?

    Primary and Lower School parents and students will be able to meet with their homeroom teachers and homevisors on Orientation Day. Information about how to book an appointment is made available in mid-August. 

    Primary and Lower School parent/teacher conferences are scheduled in fall and spring terms. Upper School student-led conferences are scheduled in October.
  • When will my child meet his or her advisor?

    Upper School students are assigned an advisor at the beginning of the school year. New students will meet their advisor during Orientation Day.

    Your child's advisor is the best resource for updates on how your child is progressing in school. He or she can help answer questions about academic life, dorm life, your child's schedule, and any information you may need throughout the school year.
  • When will I know my child's schedule?

    Students schedules will be available on the first day of classes. Parents will be able to view their child's schedule when they log into MyFay.

  • June 13: Popsicle Playdate

    New and returning students entering Kindergarten through grade two are invited to a "Popsicle Play Date" on Thursday June 13, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Primary School. More details soon.
  • August 29: New Student Picnic

    Please join us for Fay School's New Student Picnic, a terrific opportunity for new students and their parents to meet other members of the Fay community. Siblings are welcome!
