Daily Arrival and Dismissal

General Rules and Procedures

  • The arrival time for students in all grades is 7:45 a.m.
  • Dismissal time is 3:00 p.m. for students in K through grade four and 4:30 p.m. for students in grades five through nine. Game day schedules may result in a later pick-up time. Students who are not picked up promptly at dismissal time will automatically be placed in Fay Extended Day and regular fees will apply.
  • Please observe the 5 mph speed limit and one-way traffic flow when entering campus. Traffic should enter Harlow Circle via the East Entrance on Middle Road. Enter Upjohn Circle via the West Entrance and exit via the Main Entrance.
  • In consideration of our neighbors, please observe the “no parking” signs on Middle Road at all times.
  • On arrival, children should exit from the right-side of the vehicle on to the curb. Once  have cleared your car, please pull out into the passing lane with care. All children must wear a seat belt. 
  • Please do not park and leave your car curb side in Harlow Circle. This area is meant for drop-off and pick-up only. 
  • Car seats should be placed on the rear, right side passenger seat so teachers can assist your child from and into the seat from the curb side. Please note that teachers are not allowed to buckle or otherwise secure your child into his or her car seat. 
  • Parents are asked to remain in their car at all times, unless helping a child to “buckle up.” Please do not leave your car idling while you are waiting and do not use cell phones while your car is in motion.

All School Early Dismissals

Early dismissal days occur on the last day of each term and on the Thursday afternoon before mid-winter break; all students are dismissed at 2:20 p.m. No sports or Extended Day programs will run. 
One Monday each month, all students are dismissed at 3:00 p.m. so that faculty may attend planning and professional development meetings. There are no sports or athletics on these Mondays, but Fay After School and Clubs will run. 
Early dismissal dates will be listed on the school calendar.

Times and Locations

  • Primary School

    The drop-off and pickup location is the Harlow Circle kiosks. 
    On arrival, students should go directly to their homerooms. During the first two weeks of school, parents may park in Harlow Circle and accompany their child to homerooms. Beginning September 19, classes will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
    Students are dismissed at 3:00 p.m.
  • Lower School

    The drop-off and pickup location is in front of the Upjohn Building. On arrival, students should go directly to their homerooms. Parents should not accompany their child to homerooms. Students in grades five and six should first drop off the athletic gear in Harlow Gym. Classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. 
    Dismissal time for grades three and four is at 3:00 p.m. 
    Dismissal time for grades five and six is 4:15 p.m., or later, depending on games schedules. The latest pick-up time is 5:00 p.m. for grades five and six.
  • Upper School

    The drop-off and pickup location is Harlow Circle. Students should go directly to morning meeting in the Theater or Advisory which begin at 7:50 a.m. 
    Pick-up time is 4:30 p.m., or later depending on the games schedule.

Absences, Late Arrival, and Early Departure

Parents are responsible for signing their child in or out of school at their Division Office when a student arrives late, is absent for part of the school day (e.g. for a doctor's appointment), or must leave school before the normal pick-up time. If your child will be absent from school, please call the Division Office before 8:30 a.m.

If your child uses Fay transportation and/or is enrolled in Fay Extended Day or Clubs, please notify the Auxiliary Programs Office at 508.490.8371 of any changes to your child's ridership or attendence


If your child is in a carpool with students in another division, the location of the carpool pick-up is always based on the youngest child in the carpool.
