Tom Gilpin taught mathematics and coached several sports at the secondary school level for seven years before moving to Fay, where he is a member of Fay’s mathematics faculty. Prior to his career in education, Tom ran cross-country and played tennis at St. Paul’s School, majored in math at Duke University, and practiced corporate law as a business transactions attorney at Venable LLP, a large law firm based in Maryland. As head coach of Fay’s cross-country team, Tom’s coaching philosophy emphasizes stamina development, participation, team camaraderie, and long-range planning for improvement. Tom and his wife, Kyle, live on campus with their dogs, Boss and Beatrice.
