Middle School Boarding Program

Who We Are

Fay's 66-acre campus is located in Southborough, MA, just 25 miles west of Boston. Founded in 1866, Fay was the first junior boarding school in the United States, and today 150 boarding students in grades 7-9 come from across the United States and over 25 countries to call Fay home during the school year. Fay's middle school boarding program, with seven-day and five-day boarding options, is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of middle schoolers.

Preparation for Secondary School and Beyond

Our students become more responsible, well-organized, and independent with the support and supervision of dedicated teachers, dorm parents, and advisors. When our students move on to secondary school, they often find that the self-reliance, leadership skills, independence, and confidence that they developed at Fay makes them better equipped to thrive in a high school setting.

A Commitment to Excellence

Fay students are high achievers and as an independent school, we are able to design and implement a curriculum that challenges and inspires our students. In small classes, Fay students learn to explore ideas from different perspectives, think critically, and develop their own interpretations of the material. Our graduates are sought after by top secondary schools and go on to meaningful college and career experiences—but most importantly, they learn that excellence is a process, not a product.

Engaging Extracurriculars

Beyond academics, our boarders' days include time for athletics, the arts, and extracurricular clubs and activities. Each weekend, our Residential Life Coordinator plans activities on and off campus that take advantage of our proximity to Boston as well our beautiful surroundings in rural New England.

Hear from our community: What is the Fay difference?

“One of the best things about my experience at Fay was the relationship I developed with my dorm parents. In ninth grade, my dorm parent was also my history teacher—I loved getting to know her outside the classroom, and she was always so kind and supportive." -  Fay Alumni
