Weekends at Fay

What are you doing this weekend?

Weekends at Fay School are a time to rest, recharge, connect with friends, and have fun! An important part of the Fay program is what our students learn outside the classroom—and with 150 boarders on campus each weekend, there are plenty of activities and adventures to make each weekend special.

Fay’s unique location provides a host of opportunities, and our boarding students takes advantage of Fay's proximity to Boston and Providence as well as the natural, rural beauty of New England. Whether it’s a pickup game of basketball, a kayak excursion on the Charles River, a trip to a Broadway show in Boston, or a cozy meal with floormates and a dorm parent, boarders have many ways to connect with their classmates and school community.

List of 7 items.

  • How do I sign up for weekend activities?

Activities for the coming weekend are announced on Wednesdays and students are invited to sign up. Most activities are planned so that everyone can participate if they wish. Occasionally there are events where we have to purchase a limited number of tickets in advance—then it’s first come, first served.
  • Do I have to do every activity?

We make sure that all boarders get involved in weekend activities, but you're allowed to choose what you enjoy. If you have a special hobby that you love, let us know, and perhaps we can plan it as a group activity.
  • What if I have a lot of homework to do?

Weekends at Fay are a lot of fun, but they’re also a time to prepare for the busy week ahead. Boarders participate in a Sunday study hall and a dorm and room cleanup on Sunday evening. You’ll be ready to go by Monday morning!
  • Do I have to pay for off-campus activities?

Typically, there is no extra charge for off-campus activities, except for overnight excursions or ski trips.
  • Can five-day boarders participate in weekend activities?

Five-day boarders are welcome to stay overnight at Fay on weekends to enjoy all that our boarding program has to offer.
  • Can I leave campus to spend time with my family?

Yes, students with visiting or local parents occasionally depart campus on weekends to spend time with their relatives.
  • Can boarding students visit the homes of local day students?

Yes, boarding students are often invited to spend time with day students and other local families. Fay encourages families to invite boarding students home for the day or weekend to build a sense of community and to enable boarding students to share in a family experience.
