Orientation - Upper School Boarding Students

9:00 - 11:00 am & 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.: Boarding Student Registration

*Please note that the dress code for all orientation day activities is play dress.

Upjohn Building
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. New Boarding Students ONLY
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Returning Boarding Students

Check in at the Upjohn Building to hand in your travel documents and passports, check in with the Health Office to ensure all of your required health forms are completed, and get your dorm assignments. Beds in dorm rooms are pre-assigned, so there is no need to arrive before your scheduled time. 
Please note that Fay will conduct rapid antigen COVID tests on campus for all boarding students upon their arrival. You will receive your testing time when you check in at registration.

11:00 am - 1:00 p.m. Explore Campus

Group Tour of Campus departing from Fay House at 11:00 am
Get to know our campus with some of our admission staff.
This 50-minute tour includes visits to classrooms, Harris Theater, Harlow Gym, and the Village Dorms.
 
School Store Picardi Art Center (Upjohn Building)
Get your Fay gear! Apparel and school supplies are available in our School Store, which will be open 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Please note that new students will learn their color team assignments on September 15.

Meet representatives from the Parents’ Association, learn about ways you can get involved, and sign up to help!
 
Open Office Hours 
Drop in to meet administrators and staff members listed below and ask any individual questions.
 
  • Technology Department Root Library
    Parents and students with questions about their MyFay logins or laptop setups may meet with members of Fay’s Tech Team. Please note that on the first day of school, there will be a special schedule with extended advisory time during which students will be able to meet with Tech Office staff to resolve any issues.

  • Director of Equity & Inclusion Root 128
    Drop in to meet Jill Anthony, Fay’s Director of Equity and Inclusion.

  • Health & Counseling Wellness Center
    Drop in to meet our Health Office and Counseling staff, drop off medications, and ask any individual questions.

  • Learning Services Root 111B
    Drop in to meet Sally Supinski, Director of Learning Services, and ask any individual questions. Please note that Learning Services drop-in hours are for brief, informal check-ins.
    Learning Services faculty will be happy to schedule more
    in-depth meetings after September 6.

Camp Dining Room Building
Buffet lunch will be available to boarding students and their families.

1:00 - 3:30 p.m.: Upper School New Student Orientation

Begins in Mars Room
Grade-level student activities for ALL 7th graders and new 8th and 9th graders
Meet your classmates and prepare for the first day of school. Grade deans and faculty members will tour campus and facilitate team-building activities. ALL students new to the Upper School should attend. Please note that this event is for students only, and that dress code for all orientation activities is play dress.
 

1:00 - 2:00 p.m.: Upper School New Family Orientation

Harris Theater
Parents, guardians, and family members of ALL students new to the Upper School (all 7th graders, new 8th and 9th graders) will meet with Head of Upper School Jake Sumner in Harris Theater. 

2:00 - 3:30 p.m.: Explore Campus

While new students are finishing their orientation, families are welcome to tour our campus, do some shopping, or grab a cold drink and check email!

• Shop at Mooseduds! Camp Dining Room Building, floor below dining room
Check out the selection at Mooseduds, Fay School’s gently-used clothing resale shop. Mooseduds sells Fay dress code clothing for children in Kindergarten through grade nine, including blazers (for boys and girls), dress shirts, skirts, belts, and ties. 
 
• School Store Picardi Art Center (Upjohn Building)
Open until 6:00 pm.
 
• Student Lounge Bottom floor of Dining Room Building
Relax and enjoy refreshments in our Student Lounge.  Andrew Barker, Dean of Residential Life, will be available in the Lounge to greet families and answer questions.

3:30 - 4:30 p.m.: Grade-Level Meetings for All Students and Families

At this required meeting, all new and returning Upper School students and their families will meet with their grade-level deans to hear important information about the upcoming school year.

4:30 - 6:00 p.m.: All School Family Picnic

6:00 p.m.: Dorm Activities for Boarding Students

At 6:00 pm, students will say goodbye to their parents and proceed to activities in the dorms with dorm parents.
