Fay's fall sports season was full of victories and opportunities for individual and team development.
Fay’s soccer program showcased incredible talent and depth this fall. Boys Varsity A finished the season with an impressive 9–2–1 record, earning second place in the Eaglebrook Tournament and taking home the Sportsmanship Award. Though the team will say goodbye to some experienced ninth graders, a strong core of returning players and standout athletes moving up from the Varsity B squad, which finished 6–5, promise an exciting season ahead. Varsity B hosted Fessenden, Eaglebrook, and Cardigan Mountain at the annual Fay Soccer Tournament, coming just shy of the championship game. Boys JV ended the season at .500, while the 5–6 squad had a challenging schedule but has several rising stars ready to make their mark next year.

The girls program notched some equally impressive stats. Varsity captured the Indian Mountain Tournament title for the second year in a row, finishing the season 8–1–2. The 5–6 girls went undefeated, and a talented group of sixth graders is already preparing to step into the shoes of graduating ninth graders. Girls JV may not have racked up all the wins they hoped for, but they closed out the season with style, celebrating a 3–1 victory over Applewild.

Varsity football finished the season with a 3–3 record in what proved to be a rebuilding year after graduating a strong group of players last spring. Even so, the team showed steady growth, and with a talented group of seventh graders and promising athletes moving up from flag football, the team’s future looks bright. Flag football continues to thrive as well, with Fay holding its own against a competitive slate of opponents.

Varsity volleyball got off to a rocky start with a first-game loss, but undeterred, the team rallied to win an incredible 12 games in a row! With two JV teams also competing on challenging schedules, volleyball remains one of the fall’s most popular and exciting sports at Fay.

In just its second year as an interscholastic team, Fay golf showed remarkable growth, fielding a strong squad of 14 players and finishing the season with a 3–1 record. Varsity field hockey also had a standout season, finishing 9–1–3 with impressive victories over Shore and Nobles. While the 5–6 field hockey team had fewer wins, they capped the season with a thrilling victory against Charles River.

Fay’s cross country teams ran some great races this fall. The Upper School boys team placed fifth out of our thirteen teams at the Roxbury Latin Jamboree, and the girls placed fifth out of eight teams. The 5-6 team had several speedy runners who joined the Varsity runners for the jamboree.

Finally, Fay’s intramural squads—tennis, golf, and multisport—utilized the exceptional fall weather to great effect, building fundamental skills, having fun, and establishing an excellent foundation for continued development.
