  • Seed Engineering Challenge

Learn about the life cycle of a seed and how its adaptations help it survive! After reading The Dandelion Seed by Joseph Anthony, students will design their own seeds to suit various environmental factors, including wind, water, and frost.

Instructor: Willa Gustavson, second grade teacher
    Date: Saturday, May 9, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

  • Tiny Worlds: Build Your Own Terrarium

Get ready to build your own tiny world! In this hands-on workshop, students will create a magical closed-lid terrarium—complete with plants, soil, and everything needed to thrive—and even transform it into a whimsical fairy garden. Along the way, they’ll explore how nature works in a fun, interactive way, learning about ecosystems and the water cycle—evaporation, condensation, and precipitation—as they watch it unfold inside their miniature environment at home.

    Instructor: Kate Noel, Kindergarten teacher
    Date: Saturday, May 9 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
    For ages 6-9
    Limited to 10 students

  • Mortimer's Mission: The Gift of Innovation

Mortimer Moose needs a team of Master Builders! In this special two-hour workshop, you will step into the role of a Lead Product Designer to solve big problems in faraway lands. Will you build a Deep-Sea Rescue sub to save a stranded researcher? A Jungle-Copter to transport rare animals? Or perhaps a City-Hero robot to help an ambulance navigate heavy traffic?

Our mission goes beyond the classroom: once your high-performance vehicle is built and "stress-tested," it will be packaged as a custom LEGO set and donated to a children's charity to bring the joy of play to a new friend.

Instructor: Mark Evans, Director of the Center for Creativity & Design
    Date: Saturday, May 9 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
    For ages 9-12
    Limited to 10 students
