Upper School Visual Art Teacher

Description:
Fay School seeks a dynamic, flexible, and creative individual who loves teaching visual art and understands how to engage middle school-age students. The position includes teaching foundational visual arts courses along with a range of electives, including Drawing, Painting, Digital Photography and Media, Sculpture, and Ceramics. Outside the classroom, the Upper School Visual Art Teacher serves as an advisor to a small group of students, coaches or assists in other afternoon programs for two terms, and participates in the residential life program as either a campus resident or an off-campus faculty member. This is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available.
 
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in arts education or the visual arts is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Working artists with teaching experience are encouraged to apply. Teacher certification is not required.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to students in grades 7-9
  • Effectively using technology to enhance instruction and learning
  • Assessing student performance and providing feedback that supports growth and development
  • Conducting parent conferences and communicating effectively with parents and families
  • Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level team meetings and department meetings
  • As an advisor, serve as a primary point of contact for parents and families
  • Engage in two trimesters of afternoon duties as assigned
  • Performing duties to support the School’s residential life program
