Description:
Fay School seeks a dynamic and flexible individual who loves teaching and understands how to engage middle school students in appreciating mathematical concepts and developing the foundational skills necessary to thrive in and beyond the classroom. Building on Fay’s existing math program, this teacher will collaborate with colleagues and teach courses in Pre-algebra through Algebra 2. Outside the classroom, the Upper School Math Teacher is an advisor to a small group of students, coaches or assists in afternoon programs for two terms, and participates in the residential life program as a campus resident or off-campus faculty member. This position is full-time and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in math, math teaching, education, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to grades 7-9 students
- Utilizing technology to enhance instruction and learning
- Delivering appropriate materials, lessons, and regular assessments of students in grades 7-9 using a variety of teaching strategies
- Issuing effort grades and comments for students in a timely manner
- Conducting parent conferences and communicating effectively with parents and families
- Collaborating with colleagues in grade-level team meetings and department meetings
- As an advisor, serve as a primary point of contact for communication with parents
- Coaching or assisting with two seasons of after-school sports
- Residential duty, including every fourth weekend
- Actively supporting and promoting a school culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging
