Tennis at Fay School

During the spring sports season, Fay tennis players use both local indoor courts at the Wayside Athletic Club and the Westborough Swim and Tennis Club, as well as eight newly resurfaced outdoor courts on our main campus. The program consists of four teams for students in grades 7 through 9. The varsity teams play highly competitive schedules that include many secondary schools’ junior varsity teams. Many of Fay’s tennis players have gone on to play at a high level in both secondary school and college.

Harlow Tennis Courts are located directly behind the parking lot at Fay’s Office of Advancement and will be clearly visible upon parking.

News

Fay's coed-varsity tennis team played its first ever match at Eaglebrook on Saturday, April 11. The team rode out to Deerfield, MA to compete against the Eagles, a historically competitive squad among the junior boarding schools of New England. Fay School combined players from the girls' and boys' varsity teams, sending four from each out to compete. 
 
With eight players from each team participating, each player did double duty, playing a doubles match to start and a singles match that followed. After the four doubles matches were completed, Fay emerged with a 3-1 edge. The singles matches proved to be closely contested. In what turned out to be an extremely competitive matchup, Fay School edged out Eaglebrook 7-5, after splitting the singles matches 4-4. 
 
The girls led the way. Annie T'28 and Ashley N'26 played first doubles together and first and second singles, respectively. In dominating fashion, they clinched three points for Fay. Daniel Z '27 and Ryan C'27 earned a convincing win, 8-2, at third doubles while Tomoka I '27 and Annika N '28 were equally impressive at fourth doubles. 
 
Ultimately, the whole match came down to one of our captains, Richard R '26. In a back-and-forth match that saw ten breaks of serve, Richard finally found the way through. On match point, he hit one of his signature forehands at a blazing 92mph for a clean winner. In the end, the day belonged to Fay! Congrats to the team and coaches on the talent, effort, and sportsmanship that brought home the win!
