Field Hockey at Fay School

During the fall sports season, Fay’s field hockey program utilizes two fields on campus, with the varsity field located at our 36-acre Athletic Campus. Fay field hockey takes a program approach, focusing on the development of younger players and preparing them for a highly competitive varsity team. Every other year, the varsity team plays in our “Friday Night Lights” game. They play an average of 12 games each year, which includes a number of games against junior varsity teams of nearby secondary schools. Many of our graduates have gone on to play at top NEPSAC secondary schools.

Coaching Staff

Varsity - Head Coach

Heidi Qua
Heidi has joined Fay’s teaching faculty in 2003 and her first fifteen years at Fay were spent teaching PE to students in Primary School through grade 4, as well as Wellness in the Upper School. Since 2017, Heidi is the Wellness Department Chair and currently teaches Wellness to grades K-9. When not in the classroom, Heidi can often be found on the field hockey field. Since arriving at Fay she has coached field hockey, at all three levels, moving up to varsity head coach in the fall of 2019. She thoroughly enjoys the head coach role, as field hockey is a sport she has played and coached since high school. In addition to coaching, Heidi is an upper school advisor and live-in dorm parent. She resides in West House with her three children.

Janet Drake
Janet has been an educator for over twenty years teaching mathematics in independent schools in the United States, Argentina, and Turkey. She loves using technology to teach content, better communicate with her students, and connect math with real-world applications. Janet graduated from Salem College, Wake Forest University, Pacific Northwest University, and the Van Loan School at Endicott College. She has a bachelor of science in mathematics, and master's degrees in both secondary math education and educational administration. She is a certified teacher and Principal. She currently lives off-campus in Hudson, MA, with her husband Steve, a software developer, and two cats, Max and Coco.
