In a League of Her Own: Tiffany Park '07

Tiffany Park learned to love baseball at Fay and is sharing her passion with Korean baseball fans as host of Major League Tonight.
This may have been the Cubbies' year to inspire baseball fans around the world, but it was the triumph of the Red Sox back in 2004 that started Tiffany Park ‘07 on her path to a career in sportscasting. Young Alumni Coordinator Jake Kim ‘07 recently caught up with Tiffany to learn about her career path in sports broadcasting and the pivotal role that Fay played in igniting her passion for baseball.

Jake Kim: Tell us about your career in sportscasting and how that came about.

Tiffany Park: I work as a sports broadcaster in Korea at a station named MBC Sports Plus. It’s the #1 sports channel in Korea, like ESPN or FOX Sports. We are the only channel that airs Major League Baseball, and I am the main host of Major League Tonight, which is similar to Baseball Tonight on ESPN.

The funny thing is that my job ties directly back to my time at Fay. I first encountered MLB at Fay. I was at Fay when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004, and I still remember that we got to celebrate it by wearing casual dress or Red Sox shirts. Back then, that was a huge thing! A couple days later, one of the parents who worked for the Red Sox brought in the championship trophy, and we all had a chance to take a picture with the trophy. When I interviewed for my job, I talked about that experience and shared my knowledge of the Red Sox and Big Papi. I think that really helped.

JK: Are there faculty and friends from Fay whom you miss in particular?

TP: I had a very memorable experience at Fay. I still remember the first day I visited Fay for my admissions interview. I was impressed by the beautiful campus and the welcoming people. So many teachers influenced me at Fay. Mr. Lin was my advisor, and Ms. Argueta was my second mami! I remember that Mr. Clark invited my family to a Thanksgiving lunch, which was so nice, and Mrs. Ramsdell was like a grandmother to all the ISP kids.  I think because I had such a great experience at Fay, these teachers are still engraved in my memory.

As for friends, I was close with Annie Papadellis ‘07. Annie and her family would often take me out and invite me over for long weekends. They treated me as if I was their second daughter, and because of that our families became close friends. I still talk to Annie through Snapchat and Facebook. Recently on my birthday, Mrs. Papadellis and Annie’s grandma also sent me a lengthy birthday message so I got to catch up with them. I miss them and hope to get to see them soon!

JK: What are your future career plans?

TP: I plan to continue working as a sports broadcaster. I really wanted to visit Boston for a business trip so that I could see David Ortiz before he retired, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. However, I did get a chance to send him a video message through a co-worker who did go. If I get a chance to visit Boston for a business trip or for a vacation, I would love to stop by Fay and say hello to everyone.

JK: What do you miss most about Fay?

TP: I miss everything about Fay! Fay provided me with the best memories.
