Fay School is pleased to announce the launch of a “one-to-one” iPad program for next year’s ninth graders. Innovations in technology are rapidly enhancing methods of teaching and learning, and we are excited to seize this opportunity (which was made possible by a generous gift from a current Fay parent) to advance our ninth grade program by integrating iPads into our teachers’ instructional repertoire.

Next September, all grade nine students will be provided with a school-owned 32GB Wifi iPad and, throughout the fall term, will be trained by their teachers in the various, educationally relevant uses of the device.

This spring, in preparation for the “one-to-one” iPad program, we provided ninth grade faculty members with iPads and began a training program for them. These teachers are thrilled by the possibilities that the iPad affords them for enriching their teaching and their students’ learning.

This summer, we will continue iPad training for our ninth grade faculty, including two days of dedicated iPad instruction by an Apple professional and others. In addition, we will upgrade all conference rooms and ninth grade classrooms to enable iPad projection, we will upgrade our wireless network, and we will develop specific iPad policies for students and teachers.

As parents there is nothing required of you. At the beginning of the school year, we will distribute iPads to the students and equip them with what they need.
