Daniel Blanchard - Head Coach
After graduating from Providence College with a B.A. in History and Humanities (focusing on Latin and Attic Greek Languages, Ancient and Medieval History, as well as Ancient Philosophy and Greek and Roman Art), Dan Blanchard studied at the University of Glasgow. He completed his M.A. in European History from Providence College. He also completed the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Project Zero program. Dan held several educational positions before joining Fay School in 2006, including serving as a special education paraprofessional, an independent tutor, and an adjunct faculty member in the History Department at Roger Williams University. At Fay, Dan is primarily responsible for teaching Latin. Dan has continued his research of the early Imperial Roman Army and the political theory of Aristotle, Plato, and Polybius, presenting several essays before the annual meetings of the Classical Association of New England, the New England Historical Association, and the international gatherings of the Conference of Army Historians, and the Society of Military History. Dan is a Fay parent, living on campus with his wife and two daughters. He is the head coach of the varsity track and field team and the varsity B boys' soccer team. During the summer, he is the Director of the Fay Summer Camp outdoor adventure program. Dan enjoys drawing, hiking, and the outdoors, but his true passion lies in teaching and continually mastering the craft.
