“It’s so important to me that sports are a required part of the program here at Fay. So many times I’ve been able to watch a student discover a new passion and find a sport they may not have even considered before. And every season, I get to see students setting personal goals and realizing them, whether it’s scoring a goal or even being able to run an extra lap around the field at practice. The feeling students get when they realize how much they can accomplish: it sets the tone for the rest of their lives.”
Lara came to Fay in 2011 and has taught English, reading, and writing in both Upper School and Lower School. She has been active as an athlete her whole life: as a student at Dublin School, she was an alpine skier in addition to playing soccer and lacrosse; later at St. Lawrence University, she played Division III lacrosse. Before coming to Fay, Lara taught English and coached soccer and lacrosse at New Hampton School and then Graland Country Day School; she continues to coach soccer and lacrosse at Fay, where her focus during practice is on individual and team goal setting, with the aim of helping students to develop the skills as well as the character of an athlete.
