Description
The Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the School’s grounds, fields, and minor vehicle and equipment repairs. The Groundskeeper works as a member of the Facilities Department and reports to the Director of Grounds. This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in turf management, landscaping, or a related field. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and other members of the community, and demonstrate a high level of customer service. Candidates must be physically capable of:

Safely lifting and carrying up to 50lbs of a variety of equipment and materials including furnishings, bags of fertilizer and other turf treatments;

Performing repetitive tasks including stooping, bending, reaching, and carrying;

Safely using hand, power, and electrical measuring tools as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid driver’s license while employed. A Massachusetts Hoisting license must be obtained within 90 days of employment. The Groundskeeper is expected to work independently and proactively, while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Facilities Department team. Candidates must be willing to work extended shifts and weekends, to work in various locations across the School’s campus, and be willing to take on new assignments as required.
Responsibilities include:

Mowing, trimming, and cutting campus grounds and fields

Operating a power blower on campus sidewalks and roadways

Keeping campus areas safe, clean, and well organized

Observing and complying with all standard safety codes and practices, and performing work in accordance with recognized trade and school standards

Cleaning and performing scheduled maintenance on grounds equipment and facilities vehicles

Setting up, breaking down, and maintaining athletic fields with required equipment

Assisting in aerating and overseeding grounds and fields; mulching and edging planting beds

Assisting in the monitoring and maintaining of irrigation systems

Watering plants, trees, and turf
-
Cleaning and repairing building gutters and downspouts

Maintaining the metal recycling program

Removing snow and treating campus roads, walkways, and roofs

Being available to respond to off-hours emergencies as needed
