Description:
The Director of Grounds is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the School’s grounds, fields, and grounds equipment and has supervisory responsibilities for the grounds staff. This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits. The Director of Grounds reports to the Director of Facilities.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in turf management, landscaping, or a related field, with supervisory experience. Candidates must hold current hoisting and pesticide licenses. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and other members of the community and demonstrate a high level of customer service. Candidates must be physically capable of:

Safely lifting and carrying up to 50lbs of a variety of equipment and materials including furnishings, bags of fertilizer and other turf treatments;

Performing repetitive tasks including stooping, bending, reaching, and carrying;

Safely using hand, power, and electrical measuring tools as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
The Director of Grounds is expected to work independently and proactively, while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Facilities Department team. Candidates must be willing to work extended shifts and weekends, to work in various locations across the School’s campus, and be willing to take on new assignments as required.
Responsibilities include:

Manage and provide training for the groundskeeping staff, including seasonal, entry-level, and experienced staff

Plan, organize and prioritize work

Execute all tasks related to campus grounds maintenance as needed

Assess equipment and services requirements for maintaining campus grounds and athletics fields

Develop and implement a schedule of service and maintenance tasks for grounds equipment, ensuring that equipment meets expected standards for safety and operation

Maintain accurate and effective athletics fields layouts

Maintain a fertilizer and pesticide program for all grounds and turf and complete applications as necessary following all state and local regulations

Assess the need for and obtain quotes for required work and equipment

Provide support for the athletics department, auxiliary programs, and school events as assigned

Observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices, perform work in accordance with recognized trade and school standards

Develop and implement the campus snow and ice removal program, while working collaboratively with the Assistant and Director of Facilities

Operate power tools and snow blowing equipment, including snow blowers, plows, and removal equipment
