Fay After School Clubs, Fall Term 2023

Please note that Clubs must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, students will be able to transfer to another Club or receive a refund. Also, Clubs meet once per week, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

  • Karate Club - Kindergarten

    Our Karate Club helps develop teamwork, balance, control, discipline, focus, memory, coordination, and fitness by using fun karate drills and exercises. These skills will ultimately benefit students in school and at home. During the club, students can work to earn their white belt or a stripe to add to their white belt if they already have one.

  • Design & Build: Monster Mania - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    During this club, students will design and build their own monster self-portraits, jack-o'-lanterns, ghosts, and all things spooky! As they are given new projects to complete, students will need to think critically and use teamwork to solve engineering and design problems. This club encourages students to embrace their imagination and create with different techniques.

  • Sewing Club - Grades 2-4

    Sewing is fun! In this club, students will learn the basics of the sewing machine (including safety!) as well as some different hand stitches. They will use their new skills to sew some creative projects including bags, stuffed animals, and accessories. Each project will take about 2-3 weeks to complete. No experience is necessary - beginners are welcome, and projects will be different from previous terms.

    During this club, students are taught using a curriculum integrating traditional method books and computer software to allow students to learn at their own pace. Daily practice at home is expected and is essential to student progress. Students in this club are encouraged to register each trimester for the full 2023-2024 academic year, as a recital is scheduled for the spring term.

  • Chess Club - Grades 2 - 4

    During this club, expert instructors will provide informative and challenging chess lessons to students. Along the way, students will develop critical thinking skills, strengthen their strategizing ability, and will work on practicing good sportsmanship. Students will be divided into groups according to their chess experience. By the end of the term, everyone will participate in a mini chess tournament.

  • Flag Football - Grades 2 - 4

    Join a professional coach to develop your love of football into skills and knowledge about the game. During this club, players will learn 
    offensive and defense plays, and they will work on ready positions, throwing, catching, handling the ball, learning the field, and scoring touchdowns. Along the way, we will play full football games and will build skills and confidence in a safe and fun environment.

  • Intro to Chess - Kindergarten - Grade 1

    The King's fate is in your hands! Can you master the tactics to protect your King and conquer the board? Join us in learning the wonderful game of chess which will help your child develop critical thinking skills, strategizing ability, and sportsmanship. Students will learn the basics of chess in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Creative Kids - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    As we kick off a new school year, come celebrate the season with Ms. Canada as we explore all things Fall! Each week, we will begin with a story before getting into creative, hands-on activities. Whether it's a food project, making a fall-themed craft, a building/engineering challenge or simply getting out into nature, each week we will find a new and exciting way to explore the fall season!

  • Theater Club - Grades 2 - 4

    During this club, students will learn about the fundamentals of the performing arts: music, dance, and acting. They will also learn about performing arts specialties like mask making, costume design, miming, and more. While gaining knowledge about performing arts, students will also build confidence, improve their public speaking skills, and practice teamwork.

  • Engineering: Mechanical Masterminds - Grades 2 - 4

    During this club, students will learn about mechanical movements and the importance of simple machines. They will see the moving parts of simple machines up close as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions with LEGO® bricks. Students will also use models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their partners and classmates.

  • Soccer - Kindergarten - Grade 1

    Join us outside on the field (or indoors in inclement weather) for a fun-filled soccer experience. Each week, an experienced youth soccer coach will deliver drills and games to students for them to build on a variety of skills. Each week will also focus on a different skill, such as passing, shooting, dribbling, goalkeeping, defending, and more.

  • Fay at the Farm - Grades 1 - 4

    Chestnut Hill Farm is the last working vegetable farm in Southborough and a 170 acre property of pastures, woods, and freshwater wetlands. Each week during this club, students will have a hands-on learning experience about the animals and plants that call Chestnut Hill home. Students will also care for farm animals, tend gardens, learn about natural processes, and gain traditional farm-based skills.

  • Artificial Intelligence - Grades 2 - 4

    We’re now in a world where even young children can use online AI tools to generate essays, stories, music, TV shows, and even games. During this club, students will cultivate their own creativity while creating AI symphonies, working with partners and AI to create animated books, and generating AI animations. Students will also gain access to a suite of tools that can help with projects in the future, build familiarity with the new AI world we are moving into, and even understand when and when not to use this powerful new tool.

    Please note that this is creative club for younger students and not a coding club.
