Fay After School Clubs, Winter Term 2022

Please note that Clubs must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, students will be able to transfer to another Club or receive a refund. Also, Clubs meet once per week, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

  • Kinderbot Robotics - Kindergaren - Grade 1

    During this club, children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time.

  • Creative Crafts & Science with Slime - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    Join us for a STEAM adventure as we create fun science experiments in individual and group settings! During this club, students will explore and concoct gooey mixtures in our borax-free slime lab. They will also create fabulous winter crafts using a variety of mixed medium materials.

  • Sewing Club - Grade 2-4

    Sewing is fun! In this club, students will learn the basics of the sewing machine (including safety!) as well as some different hand stitches. They will use their new skills to sew some creative projects including bags, stuffed animals, and accessories. Each project will take about 2-3 weeks to complete. No experience is necessary - beginners are welcome, and projects will be different from previous terms.

  • Ukulele Club - Grade 3-4

    This club will cover the basics of playing ukulele (strumming, fretting, and singing) and students will play songs on open strings, one chord songs, two chord songs, and three chord songs. During the term, students will use Fay’s ukuleles, but families may also purchase a ukulele for practice outside of the club (optional, but recommended). Materials will be provided for practicing at home via Google Classroom and an application available on iOS devices.

  • Chess Club - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    The King's fate is in your hands! Can you master the tactics to protect your King and conquer the board? Join us in learning the wonderful game of chess which will help your child develop critical thinking skills, strategizing ability, and sportsmanship. Students will learn the basics of chess in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Piano Club - Grade 1-4 (Separated by Division)

    During this club, students are taught using a curriculum integrating traditional method books and computer software to allow students to learn at their own pace. Daily practice at home is expected and is essential to student progress. Students in this club are encouraged to register each trimester for the full 2022-2023 academic year, as a recital is scheduled for the spring term.

  • Knitting Club - Grade 2-4

    Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit? Now is your chance! Knitting helps children practice mindfulness, persevere through challenges, and strengthen their fine motor skills. In this club, students will learn beginner knitting skills and complete a project based on their skill level. Practice at home is encouraged but not required.

  • Coding: Build your own App - Grade 3 - 4

    Have you ever wanted to make your own website or app? In this hands-on coding and tech club, students will learn the skills of a coder and the mindset of an entrepreneur through building apps (their own app and also an app for local nonprofits). Each week, students will  build apps and games and they will work on real web apps. In past years, Fay students have been featured in local news outlets for apps built for homeless shelters, veterinarians, and local climate nonprofits!

  • Jewelry Crafts Club - Kindergarten - Grade 1

    This new club is perfect for crafty and creative boys and girls. Each week, students will design and create their own wearable jewelry as well as other creations using all types of materials.

  • Delicious Designs - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    Join us to create winter-themed treats made with pre-made ingredients like fondant, Rice Krispies, and various frostings and decorations. During the term, students will create reindeer treats, melting snowmen, a north pole castle, and more. Bring your imagination and creativity and get ready to have some confectionary fun!

  • Creature Creator Robotics - Grade 1 - 2

    Does your child love animals? During this club, students will create their own animal inspired robotic models from LEGO’s. They will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build insects, dolphins, gorillas, and much more!

  • Sports Club - Grades 2-4

    Get moving and active with our high energy warm-ups, team sports, and obstacle courses. We will focus on fundamentals, teamwork, building confidence, and strategies for success, all in a fun and safe environment. Students will play soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and much more! It's time to get back outside and get moving in a safe environment with our favorite coaches.

  • Budding Entrepreneurs - Grade 3 - 4

    If you love Shark Tank, this empowering program is for you! Join other intrepid students and develop a business plan for your own product or service idea. You will learn to take risks and persevere, while making business-like decisions about strategy, marketing, and finance. Participants will even have the option of building their own website and designing business cards, and everyone will pitch their business ideas during the last day of the club.

  • Little Inventors - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    Are you ready to innovate? Get your creative juices flowing in this project-based program, where you will identify the need for an invention, think on your feet, and create real structures and solutions. Students also learn about famous inventors and internalize how recent innovations improve our lives.

  • Theater Club - Grade 2 - 4

    During this club, students will learn about the fundamentals of the performing arts: music, dance, and acting. They will also learn about performing arts specialties like mask making, costume design, miming, and more. While gaining knowledge about performing arts, students will also build confidence, improve their public speaking skills, and practice teamwork.

  • Keys for Kinders: Piano Club - Kindergarten

    Keys for Kinders is a new piano club for students in Kindergarten. The club will take place in a group setting and is appropriate for  beginners with no prior experience. The club will take place in Fay’s piano lab which has six student keyboards connected via a Korg Piano Lab system. Students will learn through singing, playing games, using iPad applications, and through a traditional piano method book (John Thompson’s “Teaching Little Fingers to Play”).

  • Karate - Kindergarten - Grade 1

    Our Karate Club helps develop teamwork, balance, control, discipline, focus, memory, coordination, and fitness by using fun karate drills and exercises. These skills will ultimately benefit students in school, and at home. During the club, students can work to earn their white belt or a stripe to add to their white belt if they already have one.
    Students will be partnered or grouped by age.

  • Mega Machine Robotics - Grade 2 - 4

    During this club, your child will create some of their favorite motorized vehicles. They will learn about gear ratio, sensors, pulleys, cranks, and programming as they build trucks, space rovers, helicopters, and much more. Your child is sure to have fun as they build, learn, and play.
