Clubs (K - Grade 4)
Fay After School Clubs, Spring Term 2023
Please note that Clubs must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, students will be able to transfer to another Club or receive a refund. Also, Clubs meet once per week, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.
Our Karate Club helps develop teamwork, balance, control, discipline, focus, memory, coordination, and fitness by using fun karate drills and exercises. These skills will ultimately benefit students in school, and at home. During the club, students can work to earn their white belt or a stripe to add to their white belt if they already have one.
Join us this spring to celebrate April Fools Day, Earth Day, Cinco De Mayo, Mother’s Day, and more! During this club, students will create and decorate spring-themed confectionary masterpieces. They will even be challenged to make some of their sweet creations look like other types of foods. For example, desserts that look like tacos for Cinco De Mayo.
Sewing is fun! In this club, students will learn the basics of the sewing machine (including safety!) as well as some different hand stitches. They will use their new skills to sew some creative projects including bags, stuffed animals, and accessories. Each project will take about 2-3 weeks to complete. No experience is necessary - beginners are welcome, and projects will be different from previous terms.
This club will cover the basics of playing ukulele (strumming, fretting, and singing) and students will play songs on open strings, one chord songs, two chord songs, and three chord songs. During the term, students will use Fay’s ukuleles, but families may also purchase a ukulele for practice outside of the club (optional, but recommended). Materials will be provided for practicing at home via Google Classroom and an application available on iOS devices.

Join us in learning the wonderful game of chess which will help your child develop critical thinking skills, strategizing ability, and sportsmanship. Students will learn the basics of chess in a fun and supportive environment.
In this club, your builder will begin their exploration into the world of robotics by building simple, animal-inspired machines that are controlled by picture-block program codes. We will teach your little learner some fundamental engineering and programming concepts as they build goofy animals and design perfect habitats to protect their new robotic friends. Maybe you can't have an alligator as a pet at home, but you can definitely build one during this club!
During this club, students are taught using a curriculum integrating traditional method books and computer software to allow students to learn at their own pace. Daily practice at home is expected and is essential to student progress. Students in this club are encouraged to register each trimester for the full 2022-2023 academic year, as a recital is scheduled for the spring term.
Does your child want to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons? During this club, students will explore collaborative storytelling through playing Dungeons and Dragons. They will work on stretching their imagination by telling stories and building useful creative skills. They will also work on their team-building skills by working together to accomplish goals in the game, learn social-emotional skills, and will expand their creativity through challenges and character development.
Join us to create spring-themed crafts and slime in our borax-free slime lab. We will explore and concoct gooey mixtures and will create fabulous crafts using a variety of mixed medium materials. We invite all curious and creative minds to join us for this club that will have projects to take home every week.
Grab your goggles and lab coat; we are on a scientific discovery mission! Explore the world of science through everyday objects such as food and nature. Learn the science behind the things we use in our daily lives. There will be explosions, unique creations, and a whole lot of discoveries. Don’t miss out on this mission!
During this stylish club for boys and girls, students will gain knowledge of the fashion industry and develop skills in fashion design, fashion marketing, and fashion journalism and branding. They will develop sketching skills, explore popular brands, analyze industry trends like athleisure, design various articles of clothing, define their own brand, explore careers in fashion, and more!
Join a professional coach to develop your love of football into skills and knowledge about the game. During this club, players will learn offensive and defense plays, and they will work on ready positions, throwing, catching, handling the ball, learning the field, and scoring touchdowns. Along the way, there we will play full football games and will build skills and confidence in a safe and fun environment.
Get moving with our high energy warm-ups, team sports, games, and obstacle courses. We will focus on fundamentals, teamwork, building confidence, and strategies for success, all in a fun and safe environment.
Spring Sports - Soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and much more!
During this club, students will observe and document the arrival of Spring on the Fay campus. Each child will have their own sketchbook as well as pencils, colored pencils, and oil pastels to go outside and document the weekly changes. Concepts such as the parts of a landscape, radial symmetry, and branching will be taught. On inclement days, students will work on enlarging sketches in the art room. Additionally, collected natural objects can become the focus of their indoor work. If your child loves to draw and to be outdoors, this is the club for them!

Get your hands dirty and hold your nose! This hands-on club will combine anatomy, physiology, and chemistry to help better understand the way your body works. Make fake blood, discover how sugar causes cavities, and find out why we burp. Yuck!
Keys for Kinders is a new piano club for students in Kindergarten. The club will take place in a group setting and is appropriate for beginners with no prior experience. The club will take place in Fay’s piano lab which has six student keyboards connected via a Korg Piano Lab system. Students will learn through singing, playing games, using iPad applications, and through a traditional piano method book (John Thompson’s “Teaching Little Fingers to Play”).

During this club, students will learn about dedicated service (one of Fay's core values) and the benefits of making a positive difference in the world. Students will collaborate in small teams to select a charity or issue they feel passionate about and come up with practical ways they can support that cause (including raising awareness, volunteering, and fundraising).
In this exciting club, students will build a variety of military-inspired robots that will respond to their programmed commands. While working with a partner to solve challenges, student will be challenged to understand how to effectively utilize a sensor, how different mechanical components can alter the power and speed of their machine, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. Intructors will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with games and challenges using the robots they build with their partner.
