Fay After School Clubs, Spring Term 2022

Spring 2022 Clubs meet once per week, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Please carefully check the dates that each club meets. 

Please note that Clubs must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, students will be able to transfer to another Club or receive a refund.

  • Creativity & Design: Superheroes - Kindergarten

    While introducing the creativity and design process to students, this club will explore the world of their favorite superheroes. Students will learn about forces, energy, and problem solving as they build models inspired by Superman, Batman, and all their favorite heroes. Experimentation and fun are crucial components of this "super" club.

  • Chefs' Club - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    Young chefs get ready to roll up your sleeves and make an assortment of spring themed snacks and treats! Students will work with a number of different ingredients and all their creations will be packaged up to take home to share with family and friends! All ingredients used are nut-free.

  • Sewing Club - Grade 1-2

    Sewing is fun! In this club, students will learn the basics of the sewing machine (including safety!) as well as some different hand stitches. They will use their new skills to sew some creative projects including bags, stuffed animals, and accessories. Each project will take about 2-3 weeks to complete. No experience is necessary - beginners are welcome, and projects will be different from previous terms.

  • Chess Club - Grade 3-4

    During this club, students will learn the basic moves of chess and beyond - including checkmating patterns, opening strategies, tactics, famous games from the great players, and visualizing at least a couple of moves ahead. Players have the opportunity to play each other in a supervised setting with helpful tips and advice on how to improve, and they also will work in small teams to take on problem-solving challenges together.

  • Karate - Grades 3-4

    Our Karate Club helps develop teamwork, balance, control, discipline, focus, memory, coordination, and fitness by using fun karate drills and exercises. These skills will ultimately benefit students in school, and at home. During the club, students can work to earn their white belt or a stripe to add to their white belt if they already have one. Students will be partnered or grouped by age.

  • Chess Club - Kindergarten - Grade 1

    The King's fate is in your hands! Can you master the tactics to protect your King and conquer the board? Join us in learning the wonderful game of chess which will help your child develop critical thinking skills, strategizing ability, and sportsmanship. Students will learn the basics of chess in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Intro to American Sign Language - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    Explore a beautiful and unique system of communicating that does not call for talking! Sign language uses visual gestures and signs to communicate. Like spoken language, sign languages developed naturally through different groups of people interacting with each other, so there are many varieties. In this club, we will be exploring American Sign Language (ASL). Beginning with fingerspelling, individual letters of the alphabet represented one at a time, we will build up to learn basic signs.

  • Piano Club - Grades 1-4 (Separated by Division)

    During this club, students are taught using a curriculum integrating traditional method books and computer software to allow students to learn at their own pace. Daily practice at home is expected and is essential to student progress. Students in this club are encouraged to register each trimester for the full 2021-2022 academic year, as a recital is scheduled for the spring term.

  • Archery Club - Grades 3-4

    Led by a certified archery instructor, students will learn the basics of archery and will develop archery skills during this club. Students will start with the basic safety elements and grip and will build skills each week to incrementally improve and develop confidence with a bow and arrow. The range will be set up outdoors on campus in this new and exciting club. Beginners welcome!

  • Storybook STEAM Challenge - Kindergarten

    Join Ms. Porter for this new program. During this club, students will read a book and be tasked with a 'building and design challenge' related to the story. Students will be given various materials and supplies to create with each week. Come put your building skills to the test in this creative club!

  • Yoga & Mindfulness - Kindergarten - Grade 2

    In our Yoga & Mindfulness club, we'll incorporate fun and creative themes each week, along with games, storytelling, songs, and mindful crafts. We'll learn yoga postures to help improve focus, concentration, coordination, strength, and self-confidence. Our student friendly mindfulness techniques will instill practices of breathing and visualization that bring calmness and inner peace. The principles in this class will also teach kindness to self and others and compassion.

    During this club, children will begin to explore the fundamentals of robotic design as they build moving animals. Whether learning about animal habitats, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building dancing birds and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time.

  • Graphic Design - Grades 3-4

    Is your child interested in drawing, art, or design? In this club, they will put their doodling skills to the test as they design projects for local nonprofits and small businesses. They will learn how to make professional posters and art, and will ultimately design ads for real organizations. Students who have taken this program elsewhere have had work used in ads and social media posts by the Special Olympics, Martha's Kitchen, and local shelters.
