In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Head of School Rob Gustavson convened a task force of senior administrators in early June 2020 to research best practices, consult with experts, and consider the specific needs of Fay’s program. After completing their work, the task force concluded that Fay School should reopen for in-person classes in fall 2020 with carefully planned and implemented modifications to its daily operations and educational program, and clear health and safety protocols. The findings of the task force were reviewed by the Board of Trustees, who approved the recommendation to reopen Fay in fall 2020.
The Reopening of School plan is designed to prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, while also taking into consideration the unique composition of our student body and preserving the character of Fay’s program and educational experience.
This document describes the process followed by the task force, the expectations of all members of the Fay School community, and details of plans to prepare for and implement the reopening of school. Modifications to the teaching model and daily school routines are explained. In addition to prioritizing the health and safety of our students and employees, our plans are designed to have the flexibility to respond to both anticipated and unexpected events related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We look forward to welcoming students, faculty, and staff back to our campus. We understand that the transition back to school may come with concerns and complexities, and we are committed to reorienting students to the new school year in the safest and most supportive way possible.
Please note that additional reopening details regarding Fay's Early Learning Center will be released in mid-August.
