Guidelines and Expectations for Students

Fay@Home will feel different than being in a classroom with your peers and teachers, but it will still feel like learning at Fay! Teachers will still be creating class materials, providing resources, sharing feedback, and leading discussions. There will also be time for extra help, extension activities, and feedback. Remote learning is an opportunity to develop our skills in collaboration, flexibility, and creative problem solving. Here are a few guidelines and expectations.

Stay connected. Use the resources that the teachers will share with you to stay connected to your teachers and classmates. We are still a learning community!

Routines are important. You may not be at school, but it is still important to maintain routines, such as observing reasonable bedtimes and wake-up times, eating well, limiting your tech time, and physical activity.

Fay School rules still apply. Fay School’s rules, which are listed in our Parent-Student Handbook, still apply when you participate in distance learning. This includes all of Fay’s rules for appropriate behavior with peers and teachers, academic honesty, and responsible use of technology.

Advocate for yourself, and get help when you need it. Your teachers and homeroom teachers are here to help you and provide feedback. Don't hesitate to let them know when you have questions about the class content or an assignment.

Stay balanced. Balance is the key to making remote learning successful! Make sure each school day includes balanced amounts of on-screen and off-screen time, independent and collaborative work, and time for feedback from teachers.
