FaySummer offers campers a host of enrichment experiences consistent with the quality and values of Fay School. Our expert teachers and caring counselors provide an engaging, safe, and nurturing environment that allows campers to try new activities, find new talents, and make new friends! Our FaySummer activities are age appropriate, and our Camp Counselors lead groups of campers that are organized by age.

We seek energetic, experienced, and enthusiastic individuals who love working with children (3 year-old preschoolers through rising 9th graders) to join our FaySummer Camp staff. Day Camp appointments are for 8 weeks, beginning with a week of staff training on June 17, in preparation for camp opening on June 24, 2019. FaySummer Day Camps run Monday through Friday, from June 24 to August 16, 2019. Residential Camp appointments are from July 8 to August 16, 2019.

  • Residential Life Program Coordinator. July 8 - August 16, 2019

    Description
    The FaySummer Residential Life Program Coordinator works closely with the Director of Auxiliary programs to develop and implement residential programs for two summer overnight camps:
     
    • Academic Adventures. Two two-week sessions, July 14 – 26 and July 28 – August 9. This program is for rising 6th through 9th graders
    • International Student English Immersion. One five-week session: July 14 – August 16. This program is for children ages 10 through 15.
     
    This position will begin with training and off-campus preparation work during the week of July 8. When camps are in session, the normal work schedule is noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Program Coordinator is expected to live on campus and housing will be provided. This is a seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
     
    Qualifications
    Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have completed at least one year of a bachelor’s degree course of study in education or a related field. Previous experience creating, implementing, and leading residential programs in a camp school setting is required. Experience working with children ages 10 to 15 years is preferred. Candidates are expected to have strong written and oral communication skills, be highly organized and able to supervise complex operations, and work effectively as both a team member and individual contributor.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Developing, implementing, and directing the summer residential life program including educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities
    • Coordinating the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of summer staff
    • Preparing pre-camp and in-service staff training and leading weekly staff meetings
    • Planning a theme-based calendar of weeknight and weekend activities and trips
    • Coordinating housing for campers
    • Evaluating program operations and staffing to ensure compliance with camp and School policies and procedures
    • Being responsible for campers’ health, safety, and welfare
    • Ensuring that the School’s crisis management plan and emergency procedures are clearly understood and practiced by staff and campers
    • Collaborating with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to establish a positive culture of well-being and fun among campers and staff

  • Swim Instructor/Lifeguard - multiple positions. June 17 - August 16, 2019

    Description
    FaySummer seeks applicants for Swim Instructor/Lifeguard to work during its 8-week summer camp program for children ages 10 to 15 years. The position will begin with staff training during the week of June 17 in preparation for camp opening on June 24, 2019. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. On a rotating schedule, one day a week, the normal work schedule will be 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. for extended swim time. Occasional weekend hours may be available.
     
    Aquatics staff work as a team to create a safe, fun, well-organized, and educational program that includes swim lessons, free swim, and swim tests. Lifeguard duties will include assisting in pool maintenance responsibilities. This is a seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits. The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard reports to the Aquatics Director and to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
     
    Qualifications
    Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and hold a current lifeguard certification, as well as first aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Previous experience working with children ages 10 to 15 is preferred. Candidates are expected to be professional and to have a high level of comfort enforcing water safety procedures with campers and staff.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Assessing camper swimming abilities and delivering individualized swim instruction to teach water safety and to improve basic strokes
    • Developing and implementing deep-end swim test procedures
    • Assisting in pool maintenance tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, general clean-up, and lock-down of the pool area and equipment
    • Participating in all camp orientation programs
