Fay Students and Faculty Attend Student Diversity Leadership Conference

Four Fay ninth graders and four faculty members are heading to Nashville, TN this week for the People of Color Conference and NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), a multiracial and multicultural gathering of Upper School student leaders from across the U.S. and abroad. This year’s theme is “Listening for the Grace Note: Finding Harmony Amid the Cacophony.” Over the course of their three days in Nashville, students and faculty members will participate in large and small group sessions focused on developing cross-cultural communication skills, effective strategies for social justice practice through dialogue and the arts, and learning the foundations of allyship and networking principles. Fay’s attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from an exciting group of keynote speakers and presenters including Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund, Julie Lythcott-Haims,  author of Real American: A Memoir, and award-winning journalist Marc Lamont Hill, the host of BET News, a political contributor for CNN, and the Steve Charles Professor of Media, Cities, and Solutions at Temple University.
