Our Professional Staff
The quality of our summer program is built on the quality of our staff. Our team is composed of Fay faculty and staff, teachers from the local community, professionals in their fields, and college students with years of experience working with children. Our staff’s experience, professional skills, and passion for working with young people make for a summer full of meaningful and enriching experiences.
Facilities
Fay Discovery Summer takes place on Fay School’s 66-acre campus, and students have access to its state-of-the-art facilities, including a swimming pool, athletic fields, six tennis courts, gymnasiums, indoor rock climbing wall, outdoor adventure course, theater, dance studio, and art center that includes a painting studio, a printmaking room, and pottery wheels.
Program
The Fay Discovery program is all about choice and enrichment. Whether campers participate in a single week of camp or the whole summer, they structure their day by choosing the activities that interest them. Within a program focused on growth and enrichment, activities are designed so that campers have a “takeaway” from every experience—a project, a skill, even a new perspective.
Safety
At Fay Discovery, safety is of primary importance. Our staff participates in extensive training in preparation for their work with campers. Low camper-to-staff ratios make possible quality supervision at all times. Swimming instructors are lifeguard certified, and staff are trained in first aid and CPR.
Daily Swimming
Fay Discovery’s swim instruction program follows the Red Cross swim lesson guidelines. Every camper participates in a swim assessment upon beginning camp so instructors can place children in appropriate groups. Small instructional groups help children learn water safety and build swim skills in a safe, supervised, and positive setting. In addition to daily swim lessons, all campers have the option for free swim each day.
Community
At Fay Discovery, we want parents and guardians to be part of our summer community too! Family Fridays are a time when families can see a highlight from the children’s week at camp and meet other camp participants. Two times each summer, we host Family Nights, when all summer program participants are invited to campus to visit with friends, meet our staff and other participating families, and take part in favorite camp activities. |
