International Student Program

Fay School Internatioanl Student ProgramThe International Student Program (ISP) serves students whose citizenship or residence is non-American. Students whose first language is not English are enrolled in ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. There are nineteen different ISP offerings and students are placed in classes appropriate to their level of English proficiency. As students progress in their understanding, they are gradually mainstreamed. The ISP supports students in all aspects of their Fay experience, including travel arrangements, academic scheduling, secondary school placement, and communication with parents. There are also numerous special cultural events sponsored by ISP for the benefit of the Fay community, such as an International Dinner and an ISP Dance. Interaction between day students and international students is encouraged through vacation and weekend homestays.

Fay’s student body is an international community; roughly 15% of our students come from countries around the world: Bahamas, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, France, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Viet Nam. For students with limited proficiency in English, our International Student Program (ISP) offers specialized classes, academic support, and assistance with travel arrangements, secondary school placement, and communication with their families. Classes emphasize grammar, composition, reading comprehension, and academic skills; as students become more proficient, they gradually join classes in the larger Fay curriculum. The program also serves as a resource for Fay’s domestic students; the ISP offers field trips, dances, dinners, and other events that celebrate the world’s cultures.
