The Community
We’re proud of our heritage as a junior boarding school. For boarding students, we offer a structured, supportive boarding program, a lively slate of weekend activities, and a home in a quiet village near one of the world’s great cities.
Our boarding program accepts students in grades 6–9. We treat our boarding community as an extended family: it has habits and routines, rules and responsibilities; it offers room for solitude and friendship, for quiet reflection and social activity. Boys and girls live in separate dorms; boys typically live in double rooms, girls in single or double rooms. Students are encouraged to personalize their ooms - and to take responsibility for keeping an orderly personal space. And every student is steps away from a set of dorm parents, faculty members who live full-time in dorm apartments. Dorm parents serve as friends and counselors, advisors and role models. They help with homework, organize activities, and open their home to students. Our evening study program is tailored to the needs of each student; some join study groups supervised by faculty; others earn the right to work independently in their room.
What happens on weekends? Our weekend program includes trips to theaters and museums, amusement parks and batting cages, mountain trails and shopping centers. We also sponsor community service programs, including trips to retirement homes and soup kitchens. We’re close to Boston and Providence, and we’re a short drive to spectacular natural resources in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, so the list of activities is long. But students can also take time to relax with friends or participate in community events - dances, games, special meals, and a regular gathering on Sunday evening.
Our hometown, Southborough, is a patchwork of reservoirs and farms and colonial homes. The town library is across the street from Fay; the town center - including an essential community resource, a pizza shop - is a few blocks away. Southborough is also close to the region’s major roads - and to two of New England’s favorite cities.
Boston is one of the country’s treasures - a welcoming, walkable city packed with history and culture. The city offers world-class museums, major tourist attractions, and some of America’s most successful sports teams. Providence is a rising star, the home of major universities (Brown, Rhode Island School of Design) and a lively downtown, including a renovated riverfront.
