Why work at Fay School?Fay School's mission is "to educate each child to his or her full potential through a broad, balanced, and challenging program that establishes a solid foundation for a productive and fulfilling life." As a Pre-K through grade nine school, we offer a program of academics, athletics, and arts built on our Core Values of academic excellence, earnest effort, honorable conduct, dedicated service, and wellness of mind, body, and spirit. We actively seek a highly engaged, diverse corps of excellent teachers and staff members to support these goals. With day and boarding students from the United States and around the world, our community is a welcoming and exciting one. We thank you for your interest in Fay School!
Great teachers and staff are the cornerstone of a great school. Their work supports the education of each child. For over one hundred and forty five years, Fay classrooms have been filled with teachers who are committed to building intellectual skills, instilling strong values, and inspiring a love for learning, while helping children establish a solid foundation for a productive and fulfilling life. The diversity of the Fay community is broad and an integral part of who we are. Fay School seeks candidates who will reflect and support the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.
Fay School teachers are given the freedom to do what they do best—teach. Working with colleagues, teachers devise lessons they believe are best conducive to learning. Innovation and creativity are encouraged in the classroom, and small classes (typically 15-18 students) allow teachers to know their students. In addition, depending on the age of the students, teaching at Fay involves heading a table with students at meals, serving as advisors, coaching on the playing fields, or mentoring in the dorms. Because students want to be at Fay, they want to build strong connections with the adults around them.
We believe the quality of our faculty and staff is essential to the achievement of our mission. Teachers at Fay have an average of 11 years teaching experience with six of those years at Fay. 82% hold master’s degrees; an additional 8% are enrolled in graduate study. Fay School is accredited by AISNE (Association of Independent Schools in New England) and is a member of NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
Fay School offers competitive salaries and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 403(b) retirement, tuition remission, graduate school reimbursement, and, for those directly involved in the Residential Life Program, housing. Fay’s professional culture is maintained through ongoing supervision and evaluation and a generous professional development program which encourages faculty to grow personally and professionally through mentoring of new hires, visits to colleagues’ classrooms, workshops, conferences, training, and on-site lectures.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY
Fay School is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion or creed, national or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, genetic background, age, disability, or military service in its hiring, employment or other programs and activities.
